Bursa Uludag University (BUU) Gemlik Asım Kocabıyık Vocational School Gemlik Maritime Community students did not forget the late Asım Kocabıyık, one of the philanthropic business people of Bursa. The first day of the Asım Kocabıyık Science, Culture, Art and Sports Week event organized by the community started with the Asım Kocabıyık Memorial Program.

Gemlik District Governor Hasan Göç, Bursa MP Zafer Işık, Gemlik Deputy Mayor Mert Dimilli, BUU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu, Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation Education Advisor Gemlik Asım Kocabıyık Vocational School Founding Director Prof. Dr. Abdurrahim Korukçu, Gemlik Director of National Education Mehmet Duran, Gemlik Port Director Asım Sulu attended the event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu emphasized that it was a very valuable work of the Maritime Society students to organize a commemoration program for the philanthropic businessman Asım Kocabıyık by gathering all the University stakeholders together. In his speech, MP Zafer Işık talked about the values that the late Asım Kocabıyık added to Bursa and Gemlik. Gemlik District Governor Hasan Göç underlined that the Asım Kocabıyık commemoration program organized by the students is very valuable in every sense. Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Yahya Işık informed the participants about the programs and facilities of Gemlik Asım Kocabıyık Vocational School and said that they are grateful to Asım Kocabıyık for his contributions to the University. Prof. Dr. Abdurrahim Korukçu also talked about the process of meeting Asım Kocabıyık and the projects they implemented together.

After the opening program, sessions were organized. The topic of the first session was Container Crisis: Freight Forwarder. ATF Forwarding Regional Manager Ömer Ekinciler, Lyonel A. Makzume Network & Pricing Supervisor Barış Yozcu and Orign Logistics General Manager Yüksel Kahraman attended the session. In the program, the impact of the container crisis in the logistics sector during the pandemic period on companies was discussed.

The second session of the event was held under the title of Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility. Logistics and Operations Specialist Esma Deniz Derya and Aslı Karakaya, Founder of Notus International's session, the Container Crisis and women employees in the international logistics sector were discussed.

Aslı Karakaya answered the question of what are the challenges of being a woman in the sector as follows. "As a professional who has been working in the sector for many years, I have not experienced any difficulties of being a woman since the beginning of my career. On the contrary, I believe that many features that women are born with, such as meticulousness, attention to detail, reliability and multi-tasking, enable us to be much more successful in our work and working life."
